Build A Basketball Dynasty Collection Index
A museum that also feeds your Starting 5 if you refuse to sell the last copy.
The Index is the quietly huge system in Build A Basketball Dynasty. Packs feel like five minutes. The Index is 1,900+ names. Master Collector remains at zero awards, which is the studio telling you this is an endgame museum. This page is the Players-hub version of the grind — less “how to play,” more “how to store.”
Ownership rules we recommend
Until a tooltip says otherwise:
- Own one of every name.
- Own one extra if a Shiny variant might be a second slot.
- Sell only after the UI shows owned.
- Never sell a card you currently start.
- Never sell a Shiny GOAT duplicate until you have a screenshot of Index + inventory.
The matching how-to is complete the Index. Come back here when you are deciding what to keep, not how to schedule the week.
Percent is a second save file
Write Index percent next to Team OVR. They move independently. You can hit 90 OVR at 12% Index if you high-roll. You can sit at 40% Index with a mediocre five if you collect like a librarian. Both are valid. Mixing them up is how people sell the librarian pile for one more GOAT attempt and then cry.
Rarities tells you which pile is which. This page tells you not to mix the piles in the sell shop.
Filters and holes
If the Index can filter by position, fill the rarest position names first. That doubles as position depth. If it cannot filter, work alphabetically in short sessions so you do not skim past an unowned 80 overall.
A hole in 2012 Centers is still a hole even if your 2022 (wait — the pool ends at 2022) stars look complete. The window is 2010–22; the early years are where collectors stall because the splash art never shows them.
Social pressure
Other GMs will flash GOATs. That is Lucky Pull, not Master Collector. Different badge, different religion. You can congratulate them and still keep your 1,400 commons. Flex culture is ranked’s problem; the Index does not care.
Do not buy accounts. Do not trust scripts that “unlock Index.” Those tools lie and then steal.
When a patch adds cards
UPD1 already proved the studio will add systems (ranked badges) after launch. A pool expansion would reset “almost done” speeches. Read updates before you sell a bulk pile “because I finished 2014.” You did not finish 2014 if 2014 grew.
Why zero awards is comforting
If someone had completed it in a weekend, the badge would not be zero. You are not behind a secret meta. You are in a marathon with no finishers. Play league, play ranked, and let the museum grow in the background like a second save. That is the healthy collector brain.
Keep the last copy. The sim will not thank you, but future-you will when a set bonus or a variant slot appears in a patch notes line.
Bag versus Index versus Starting 5
Think in three drawers. The Starting 5 drawer is five jobs — see Starting 5 tiers. The bag is extras you might start tomorrow. The Index is “I have owned this name.” Selling the last copy to fund a GOAT attempt empties the museum for a lottery ticket. If you need currency, sell a duplicate common after the owned flag is on, never the last 2011 center you will not look at until a filter lands.
Write percent once a week next to the OVR planner snapshot. If percent jumped and OVR did not, you collected. If OVR jumped and percent did not, you high-rolled. Both are fine. Mixing the drawers is the only failure.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is the Index required to play?
No. It is required for Master Collector. You can win league and ranked without it.
How many unique cards?
Official text: 1,900+. The badge uses that entire list.
Can I complete it with Robux only?
You can buy volume. You cannot buy a published guarantee of every name.
Where is the weekly routine?
Should I sell the last copy of a low overall?
No. Master Collector wants the name, not the overall. Sell duplicates after the owned flag is on.
