Build A Basketball Dynasty How to Complete the Index

1,900+ cards from 2010–22. Treat it like a season pass that never ends.

How to Complete the Index

The Master Collector badge asks you to complete the entire Index — 1,900+ players. The live award count is zero. Shiny Collector (every Shiny, not every base name) is also zero — see how to get badges. That is the most honest difficulty rating in the game. This guide will not pretend you finish next weekend. It will show you how to make daily progress that also feeds Team OVR, instead of burning duplicates like trash.

What the Index is for

The Index is the collection log for every card in the 2010–22 pool. Each new name ticks a slot. Shinies may share a slot or add a variant depending on how the client groups them — until the studio publishes a tooltip, assume base card first, variants later, and do not sell your last copy of a name.

Collection games usually hide small luck or currency bonuses at 25%, 50%, 75%. Even if those bonuses are modest, they stack over months. Completing a set of Centers you actually start is more valuable than a random 50% banner.

Never sell the last copy

The fastest way to brick Master Collector is a “clean inventory” pass. Commons from 2014 still count. If the sell button is tempting because you need pack cash:

  • Sell duplicates only after the Index shows that name as owned.
  • Keep one of every overall tier if variants are separate.
  • If you are unsure, do not sell. Currency comes from codes, dailies, and league play.

A Shiny GOAT duplicate is still a duplicate. The first copy is the Index tick; extras are trade bait or Starting 5 upgrades. See How to get a Shiny GOAT.

Pack strategy for collectors (not for flex)

Hunters open packs for a single 99. Collectors open packs for new names. Those goals fight each other.

Collector rules:

  • Prefer pack types that advertise mixed overalls, not only “best odds at GOAT.”
  • When two packs cost the same, pick the wider pool.
  • Log new unique names per session. If a session adds zero uniques after 20 packs, you are in duplicate hell — stop and play league.
  • Use luck items when a patch adds a chunk of new players (read UPD1 and later).

You will still pull Starting 5 upgrades. Assign them. Collection is not a vow of poverty; it is a vow not to delete history.

A weekly Index routine

Monday: Redeem codes, open dailies, screenshot Index percent.
Wednesday: One focused roll session, assign new uniques, sell only confirmed dupes.
Friday: League or ranked so the account still “plays basketball.”
Sunday: Compare percent to Monday. If it did not move, you sold too aggressively or you only rolled a premium GOAT pack.

Track percent in a notes app. The OVR planner is for overall; Index percent is a second number and deserves the same respect.

Position-colored holes

Open the Index filtered by position if the UI allows it. Fill the thinnest position first — that also helps position balance on the court. A missing 2011 backup PF is both a collector problem and a depth problem when your starter sits.

If the UI does not filter, scroll slowly. The pool is huge; rushing is how you miss an unowned 82 overall that would have been a free tick.

Mental health clause

Zero awards on Master Collector means you are not late. You are not bad at the game because 1,870/1,900 is not 1,900. Play ranked and league so the account has other trophies. Check the Index when you would have doom-rolled anyway.

If a future patch adds pity, we will put it on updates. Until then, the Index is a museum you build while winning games — not a second unpaid job. Keep one copy, sell the rest, and let 1,900 be a horizon, not a homework deadline.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Has anyone completed the Index?

Master Collector showed zero awards at our snapshot. Treat full completion as unclaimed, not as a weekend project.

Should I sell commons?

Only duplicates after the Index marks the name owned. The last copy stays.

Do Shinies count separately?

Assume they might. Keep a base copy plus the Shiny until a tooltip says they share a slot. See rarities.

Does Index help Team OVR?

Indirectly: you stop selling useful depth. Direct bonuses, if any, will be noted in updates.
