Every match in Build A Basketball Dynasty is played by cards, not by your Roblox avatar’s jump shot. The official description puts the pool at 1,900+ players from 2010–22. That window is why the key art can throw a 99 SG in a Bulls 23 frame next to a 99 SF in a Lakers 23 frame without pretending it is today’s injury report. This hub explains how to think about the collection so you stop treating the Index like a garage sale.

What a card is

A card has:

• A name from the 2010–22 era pool (stylized, not an NBA license sheet).
• A position stamp (PG, SG, SF, PF, C).
• An overall used by Team OVR when the card starts.
• A layer — base, Shiny, or Shiny GOAT.
• An Index flag once owned.

Promo numbers (92, 94, 96, 97, 98, 99) are real overalls the studio is willing to print on thumbnails. They are not a promise that your first pack is a 99.

How to read official art without getting baited

Key art is a mood board:

• Five-card LINEUP strip with mixed teams = “start five positions.”
• 98 OVR TEAM badge = Team OVR is a featured number, chaseable via Perfect Team.
• Dual 99 cards in a duel = overall cap talk, not a required pairing.
• Curry 30 + Bucks 34 in one splash = creator + rim runner, the S-tier shape.

If you only roll for the exact splash screen, you will ignore an 88 Center that would win you league.

Duplicates are a resource, not dirt

First copy: Index + possible start. Extra copies: sell-for-currency after the Index ticks, or keep if Shinies are separate slots. The full policy is in How to complete the Index and collection.

A duplicate 99 of a role you already start is still less useful than a first 84 of a hole. Players hub exists so that sentence gets repeated in a different room than Guides.

• Lucky Pull — first Shiny GOAT, not first Shiny. GOAT hunt.
• Perfect Team — 100 Team OVR, Starting 5 math. OVR planner.
• Master Collector — entire Index. Zero awards at snapshot.
• Welcome — you loaded in. Not a card skill check.

A collector’s ethics

Do not harass other GMs for their GOAT screenshots. Do not buy “account with 99s” off-platform. Do not run scripts that inject fake inventory. Cards are fun because they are scarce. If you skip the scarcity, you skip the game.

When UPD2 adds a new era chunk, this hub will grow a dated subsection. Until then, 2010–22 is the world. Collect it like a box of tapes, start five like a coach, and let the sim be the highlight reel.
